The Catalan employers federation PIMEC and the Shenandoah University in, Virginia, USA have signed a strategic partnership agreement.
Antoni Cañete, General Secretary of PIMEC, and Tracy Fitzsimmons, President of Shenandoah University led the signing ceremony.
Both entities have sealed an agreement that will promote relations between Catalonia and the United States.
The partnership:
- Fosters SU students to perform specific internship projects for PIMEC member CEOs as part of the SU GEL – Global Learning Exchange/internship program
- Creates SU on-line courses for PIMEC members in Marketing Media and Health Care Management
- Aims at encouraging the introduction of Catalan companies into the United States through the SU Campus.
In 2017, PIMEC and Shenandoah started our initial collaboration, bringing students from the University to do internships at Catalan companies and entities. This more comprehensive agreement envisages extending this initiative and completing it with other actions, such as disseminating the University Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) among Catalan SMEs, in order to improve their knowledge of the American market.
At the same time, PIMEC intends to take advantage of the talent, infrastructure, relationships and location of the SU to make it a landing platform for Catalan SMEs in the United States. Catalan companies such as Sanjo, for example, have established subsidiaries in this particular State.
In the future, Catalan SMEs can take advantage of the University’s Incubator, as well as their talent and contacts, in order to enter the North American market.
The agreement confirms PIMEC’s strong commitment to education and a closer relationship between universities and the business community. PIMEC and the University of Shenandoah are strategically aligned to contribute to foster relations across the Atlantic.
