My recruiting territories: MD counties, PA counties, VA counties, IN, KY, MI, OH
Hometown: I lived in Purcellville, VA until I graduated HS, and then my whole family moved to Winchester.
My favorite spots around SU: I love being outdoors, so the creek that flows through campus is one of my favorite spots. Nearby you can visit Jim Barnett Park, the Museum of the Shenandoah Valley, and downtown Winchester. They are all great places to take a walk and unwind. If you want to go on a scenic drive to a beautiful spot our Cool Springs River Campus, The State Arboretum of Virginia, and Skyline Drive are all within 30 minutes of our Winchester Campus.
What makes SU special to me: The community feeling of SU is unmatched. Almost everyone I’ve interacted with on campus has been kind and supportive. The faculty are genuinely dedicated to their students, thanks to the small class sizes. Plus, the campus and surrounding areas are beautiful.
My advice: Don’t stress too much about the application process. Give it your best shot, and things will work out as they should! I was quite anxious about getting into college and finding the right fit for me, but I learned that being yourself and going with what feels right will take you where you need to be! When visiting schools, take your time and try to envision yourself there as a student. As someone who changed their major two years into school, I suggest keeping an open mind to all the programs each school you visit has to offer.
Fun fact: My family and I have four rescued hound dogs ranging from dachshund hounds to a Doberman hound mix! They may be loud but their cuteness makes up for it.
